Some tests on proportioning of structural lightweight aggregate concrete /

Tests we done on varying proportions of lightweight aggregate (coarse, medium, and fine grades) and dense sands to obtain information on the most suitable combination of these to produce concrete of satisfactory density and strength. The results indicate that the proportion of coarse aggregate may v...

The results indicate that the proportion of coarse aggregate may vary between 50 and 62 per cent. by bulk volume but at each percentage the grading of the sand is important for maximum strength. Optimum results were obtained with 56 per cent. of coarse aggregate and with sand graded so that 12 per cent. passed a No. 100 B.S. sieve. The influence of lightweight fines and medium grade aggregates on strengths is also reported.
